Driveline Systems Ltd. was formed in 1995 with the aim of providing a specialist service to the power transmission industry. Initially the business was involved in the specification and sales of Auburn Gear Planetary Gearboxes used in the industrial, mobile and agricultural sectors. As a natural progression the Muncie Power distributorship was taken on supplying gearbox mounted power take offs (PTOs) mainly for the Allison fully automatic gearbox used in the commercial vehicle industry. In 2000 the Veljan Hydrair distributorship was taken on to supply hydraulic vane pumps and valves. With both of these products in place Driveline Systems were the first company to offer an Allison approved PTO together with either a single or tandem vane pump for the work truck market. The main beneficiary of this arrangement was the refuse truck manufacturers and very soon Driveline Systems were supplying all the major refuse truck OEMs in the U.K. Since then other refuse truck manufacturers based in mainland Europe have seen the benefit of a single source of supply for both the pump and the PTO. These customers are supported by approximately £0.5 million of stock held in our warehouse in Sandy. Further growth was found in the other municipal vehicle market sectors including: – gulley emptiers, skip loaders, hook loaders, truck mounted cranes and tippers. Other products were later added to the programme enabling the company to offer PTO and pump solutions to the car recovery industry specialising in the Isuzu NQR transmission. In order to support our customers in the commercial vehicle industry we have in house testing facilities for both the hydraulic pumps and PTOs we supply for the Allison transmission. Future plans include expanding the Powerline range of products to cater for the unique demands of the hydraulic work truck.
